Microprocessor is multipurpose, clock-driven, register based digital integrated circuit. It accepts binary data as input, processes it according to instructions from memory and provides results (in binary) as output.
Definitions
- Instruction: Assembly Language code which tells the Microprocessor what to do
- Latency: Time in clock cycles form start to finish
- Throughoput: The amount of instructions that can retire (finish) per clock cycle
